As promised, here is a brief listing of upcoming Dance Events that would be PERFECT for any Dance 6 students who have not seen their required dance concert for critiquing purposes.
This weekend, Cal State Long Beach is presenting
CSULB in Concert: 20 Years in the Dance Center.
Lorin Johnson, Concert Director, said: “Our 20th anniversary concert is designed to showcase fresh, new choreography by the current faculty as well as works from the department’s past repertoire, including Evening Soul (1996) by beloved former faculty member Susan McLain. We feel enormously blessed to be able to practice our craft each day in this amazing Dance Center, and wish to pay homage to the legacy of the CSULB dance program with this concert. An exhibition in the lobby of the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater will display costumes, photographs and archival material illustrating the rich history of the department.”
Performances are scheduled for April 23, 24, and 25th at 8:00pm, with a matinee on the 26th at 2:00pm. A special gala performance will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 7:30pm – this one will probably be a sell-out, so the other performance times may have more availability. Of course, checking on-line for tickets is a must, and there is a $10 parking fee.
I will post more re: upcoming FREE UCR performance on May 1st, and Santa Ana College’s Student Dance Concert May 8-10th soon!
