  1. Hey there!
My name is Carolyn Hall, and I am the current President for the Salsa Club at UCR. I saw that you used to give extra credit to students who attended our events, so I thought I would reach out to you again and see if you are interested in hearing about our current event opportunities.

We still have a monthly free dance social with a dance lesson before hand, and the next one is June 9th https://www.facebook.com/events/150781255104571/ the event is every 2nd Sunday from 6-10pm without fail at the Riverside Women’s Club, and is always FREE. This event will continue through summer as well.
If you are interested in more information, you can find us on Facebook at “The Salsa Club at UCR.”

  2. Hey,
My name is Yoselyn Orellana and I am currently enrolled in your Dance 6 class on Mon. & Wed. from 9:35-11:00. I would just like to let you know that I agree with what you have stated above about how “weird” can be “normal” when describing a dance work. I was born in the US but my mom is from El Salvador and my dad is from Honduras. Anyways in Honduras people dance something called “Punta” which I think is very different and can be considered weird as some of my friends have told me when I showed them what it is. I consider it normal because my dad’s side of the family know how to dance it really well and I am use to seeing this type of dance. I hope it brings up some type of curiosity into you and you check it out. Here is a suggestion http://youtu.be/vgfwb20oMoI
    Have a nice day.

  3. Hello Mrs. Chenoweth my name is Brooke Jackson and I am currently enrolled in your Dance 6 class Mon/Wed from 9:35-11:00, today was the first day and I would like to let you know that I think I am really going to love your class. Your charismatic teaching style is going to make learning about Dance enjoyable for me. I have never been interested in learning about Dance i honestly took the class because it was recommended by my counselor but just after the first day i can already tell I am going to love it! 🙂

  4. Greetings Mrs. Chenoweth,
I am Carmen Castro from your Mon/Wed class from 11:10 – 12:35 and I want to thank you for showing us the videos in class on Wednesday, the dance by Ill-Abilities was truly inspiring to watch and I really appreciate you showing it to us. At the end of the day, our minds are truly the obstacles that keep us from chasing our dreams, and when an injury comes our way we make it bigger than it really is and use it as an excuse to not try anymore. Ill-Abilities has proven that we limit ourselves and even though we need to take care of ourselves when we get injured, its not the end of the world and we should not stop working hard. Thank you again and have a wonderful day.
    Carmen Castro.

    • Thanks, Carmen! I’m glad you were so inspired by the video. Ill-Abilities is a fantastic example of dedication to one’s art despite great challenges. I’m always amazed when I see this footage – it’s still powerful even after multiple viewings.
Have a great weekend – stay safe!

  5. It is a pure Joy to learn the intricate parts to dance, and be immersed into the degrees of dance, the heavy vibration that it carries and integration with music and profound dance that we are free to express is electrifying.
